Experts say that 400 to 800 million jobs could be replaced by 2030. This is a huge problem, but we are starting to think about solutions. Not many solutions exist, but the jobs mainly affected are food preparation, production, and transportation. One solution is for the people in these careers to get a postgraduate degree, but for many, that is simply not realistic. Another option would be to move into a low skill job or an apprenticeship, but those are just temporary. The main goal is flexibility and higher education, both for your own benefit and for your career (Carter).
AI is coming, and there are problems left to solve about that. One such problem is ethics. When AI displaces workers, it could lead to mental health problems and an increase in suicides around the globe. One way to combat these problems is to use ethics committees like Google has. This would improve worker job security, and maybe prevent a damage to mental health (Lufkin).
AI is getting stronger, and quickly. It has been estimated by some that most, if not all jobs will be radically transformed, or even fully taken over, by AI in the not too distant future. This is to say that AI is coming. The only thing that we can do is to prepare and develop our technology and society to be better prepared for it. As an average person, there isn’t much that you can do in that department, but you can better optimize yourself to be better educated and prepared (Muhleisen).
AI is moving into jobs that it has never had before. One such job is management. New programs, such as Entelo, are taking over the role of finding and evaluating employees, either potential or in the workplace. Others measure different attributes of employees, such as time spent in the workplace or amount of work completed. Some shortcomings are that the AI likes employees who match previous employees closely, but they are superior to humans at managing in many key ways (Greenwald).
