The Scots track and field team showed out during the Dean Nice invitational on Saturday, May 9th Men’s varsity placed 12th out of 21 total teams while the girls varsity team placed 5th out of 22.
Junior Jayce Fowler ran a 22.02 200m sprint, getting him second place and missing first by only two-tenths of a second. Junior Ismail Ali set a personal record in the 800m with a time of 2:01.42, placing him 11th. Senior Farhan Ibrahim also set a new personal record in the 1500m with a time of 4:10.28 placing him 7th. The Mens 4x400 relay team consisting of Juniors Sincere Nathan, Ismail Ali, Ben Streips and Jayce fowler placed third with a time of 3:29.59 and yet another personal record.
On the Women’s side, Senior Nevayah Samuels ran a 12.82 100m placing 6th, with Freshman Remy Fulsher placing 11th only two-tenths behind her with a time of 13.03. Junior Ja’lan Abdullah ran a 26.00 in the 200m and 59.25 in the 400m placing 4th in both of her events. Their 4x100m relay consisting of sisters Ariya and Ja’alan abdullah, Senior Khloe Huskic, and Nevayah Samuels placed second with a time of 49.19.
On the Field, freshman Beatrice Dormezil showed out in shot put throwing 32 feet 10 inches, placing her 7th while Junior Genesis Larios threw 30 feet 8 inches, placing 11th. On the Men’s side, Senior Blake Irby placed sixth, throwing 45 feet. Also throwing the discus, Blake threw 146 feet 8 inches placing second.
Now the Scots are getting ready for their district meet starting May 20th.
