Ariya Abdullah dominated her lane again this year, winning state in the 50 freestyle in Tualatin on Feb. 26, along with the girls 200 freestyle relay
Sophomore swimmer Ariya Abdullah dominated her lane again this year, winning state in the 50 freestyle in Tualatin on Feb. 26, along with the girls 200 freestyle relay.
Abdullah’s time, 23.03, qualified as All-American and broke the school record, as Abdullah won state for the second year.
The Girls 200 freestyle relay team of senior Alyssa Siripatrapa, senior Kim Nguyen, senior Ja’lon Abdullah and Ariyah Abdullah won their relay final with a time of 137.63.
Ariyah topped off her weekend by placing 4th in 100 free with a time of 52.98.
Alyssa Siripatrapa placed 9th in 100 fly with a time of 100.59. Elliott Huelshoff placed 9th in 100 fly with a time of 52.78, 5th best on the school records.
The girls 400 freestyle relay team of Siripatrapa, sophomore Tierney King, senior Elliott Swanson and Ariyah Abdullah placed 6th.
Sophomore Elliott Huelshoff, Junior Nathan Nguyen, Sophomore Nathan Vuong and junior Austin Pham won the 200 free relay and took 6th place, which is a new school record.
The boys team placed 6th in the Men’s 200 medley relay, with Nathan Nguyen, Pham, senior Isaac Campbell, and senior Daevin Nguyen. Austin Pham placed 8th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.48
The men’s 400 free relay team composed of Elliott Huelshoff, Daevin Nguyen, Isaac Campbell and Vuong placed 5th.
The girls team placed 5th in state with 45 while the boys placed 7th with 32, making DDHS one of only four programs with both teams in the top 10.
