The boys and girls golf teams secured multiple victories at the MHC District Tournament at the Stone Creek golf course in Oregon City on May 5 and 6.

The competition was filled with astounding plays like when his automatic berth to the State Tournament on the line, senior Micah Chadwick stuck it to 2 feet for birdie, parred 18 and secured his direct path to the 6A State Championships. Because of that, Senior Micah Chadwick was one of two individuals in the entire conference who became able to skip Regionals, which is “a pressure cooker against the Three Rivers League,” according to head coach Tyler Satterthwaite.

Chadwick additionally earned 1st Team All Conference as well as being selected by his peers and coaches to win MHC Sportsmanship Award, given to one senior each year.

Junior Jackson Satterthwaite shot well and was able to secure his individual berth to the Regional tournament Monday at OGA with a top 20 finish in the conference.

The rest of the golf team, consisting of junior Johnny Moroshan, sophomore Luke Chadwick and sophomore Hector Landeros, drastically improved their previous scores from the opening tournament, which validated their hard work and dedication all season.

“The Scots were represented well!” said coach Satterthwaite. The boys are now preparing for State, which will be at Emerald Valley Golf course from May 19th to 20th.

The girls team’s first ranked golfer, junior Olivia Satterthwaite finished with a score of 94 on 18 holes, earning a spot on second team All-Conference. The team’s second ranked golfer, senior Heidi Chang finished with a score of 104 on 18 holes. Both girls qualified for the regionals which took place on May 12th at the Stone Creek Golf Club. Satterthwaite shot a 94 at regionals, securing a spot at State. State will be held at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell on May 19-20th.

On the JV team, junior Deborah Hennock stood out with a low score of 55 on 9 holes.

Overall, both the varsity and JV girls golf teams had successful seasons.
