MECI

MECI

What is MECI?

MECI (the Mathematics Education Community in Ireland) already exists since there is a strong community in the field of (research in) mathematics education in Ireland. As an organization (with the tentative acronym, MECI), it is a concept anticipating realisation; it is ready to become a reality!

Why now?

Indeed, MECI is overdue when one considers the development of mathematics education in Ireland over the past two decades (see here). The breadth and depth of research in both theory and practice underpins the work of Irish and Irish-based researchers in national and international communications, cooperations and collaborations.

How can I hear more about MECI?

You are welcome to join a presentation and discussion on Zoom on Saturday 16th October, 09:00-09:30. If you do not already have the link you should contact me (maurice.oreilly@dcu.ie) directly by email before 22:00 on Friday 15th (with MECI in the subject field), and I will try my best to respond by 08:00 on Saturday morning.

Two questions for your consideration (in advance)

    • What features would MECI need to have for me to want to join?

    • What would I like to contribute to MECI?
