State of the Schools November 2019
Jim Kent, Superintendent
Thanks:
I would like to extend a thank you to both Rich Reichert and Wes Englot. Rich did a great job of clearing snow off the football field for the Hemingford game to take place. Wes did a very speedy repair job on a coolant hose as the bus was scheduled to leave for Fullerton (Robert was at Army Reserve training).
NSAA legislative proposals:
We reviewed these at the meeting. There is a proposal to reduce team size in class D cross country from 4 to 3 scoring runners. There was also a proposal to increase the size limits on schools playing 6 and 8 man football. Participation numbers are an issue. We also voted on adding girls wrestling as a sanctioned activity. That proposal failed in our district but passed in others and will be brought before all districts again in January.
Annual Audit:
The auditors were here at the beginning of October. The audit was very good, the only findings were the one we have had for 25 years about segregation of duties. We don’t have the staff to segregate so we use oversight as our check.
Bus Bid:
The board accepted the purchase bid from Ben Shaw for the 23 passenger bus we had been attempting to sell.
Congratulations:
I would like to congratulate our football team on their second historic run into the NSAA Football Playoffs in two years. It’s fun to watch you play and even more fun to watch you grow. A special thanks to Coach Spargo and his staff for their hard work and dedication.
Go Tigers!!
