Reading & Writing:
Asking and answering questions about texts, using specific evidence to support answers.
Describing characters, their motivations, and how their actions affect the story.
Writing well-structured narrative, informative, and opinion pieces.
Conducting short research projects.
Engaging in collaborative discussions.
Math:
Mastering multiplication and division facts and solving related problems.
Developing a strong understanding of fractions as numbers.
Solving problems involving time, liquid volume, and mass.
Understanding the concepts of area and perimeter and relating them to multiplication.
Classifying and reasoning with shapes and their attributes.

Life Science: Analyzing how organisms are interdependent and have unique life cycles.

๐ Curriculum Overview ๐
โ Ready Math for 3rd Gradeย
Helps students build a deep understanding of math concepts through hands-on learning, problem-solving, and real-world application. This program supports students in mastering key skills, including multiplication, division, fractions, and understanding area and perimeter.
๐ Reading & Phonics: Benchmark Workshopย
This program provides a balanced approach to literacy. We will read a variety of rich, complex texts (both fiction and nonfiction), build our reading stamina, and develop our skills as critical thinkers.
โ๏ธ Writing: SRSD (Self-Regulated Strategy Development)ย
For writing, we will use the SRSD model, which teaches students powerful strategies for planning, drafting, and revising their work across different genres.
โ๏ธ Cursive: Writing Without Tears
Students will learn cursive handwriting through the fun and engaging Writing Without Tears program, which uses a developmental approach to make handwriting easy to learn.
๐ง Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Wayfinder
We will use the Wayfinder curriculum to help students develop self-awareness, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. This program helps students navigate life's challenges and opportunities with a sense of purpose.
๐ฏ Targeted Supportย ๐ฏ
Our school uses a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure every student gets the help they need to succeed. For students needing extra support in foundational reading skills, we will use UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute). This program provides explicit and systematic instruction to build strong readers.
