Expectations
Be RED!
Respectful:
x Be kind & supportive to everyone in your ensemble, including yourself.
x No talking or singing out of turn during rehearsals.
x Be respectful of our choir resources & equipment.
Excellent:
x Practice at home. Anything we work on in rehearsal, review it by yourself so we can continue to improve as an ensemble every day.
x Always do your best, even if your best is different every day.
x Ask for help if you need it!
Determined:
x Don't give up! Music can be challenging, and we all progress at different rates, so be patient with yourself and your classmates as we work towards each concert.
Course Materials
All students are required to have the following materials in class every day:
x Pencil with working eraser for marking your music (NO pens please!)
x Black folder with all current concert music (provided, see sheet music policy below)
x Water bottle: staying hydrated is important for healthy singing!
Sheet Music Policy
At the start of each term, students will be issued one copy of each piece we will be performing on that concert. Students are responsible for bringing their music to class every day, marking their music in pencil only, and returning all music intact after the concert. Scans of current repertoire will be available on the class site, and students are welcome to leave their music in their assigned choir cubby instead of bringing it home and back. If a student loses their music, they are responsible for printing new copies, to be returned after the concert.
Grading Policy
All students will receive two grades: content knowledge and work habits. Content Knowledge grades are based on the Colorado Music Standards: expression of music, theory of music, and aesthetic valuation of music. Work Habits grades are based on rehearsal behaviour and preparation.
