Welcome to Choir at Cimarron!
In this class, students will learn proper vocal technique and musicianship skills as well as an appreciation for music across many eras and styles. This will be accomplished through vocal warmups, games, exercises, and preparing concert music. Students will showcase their progress in concerts at the end of each quarter.
Music has always been my favorite thing. I grew up in a very musical family in New Mexico and was involved in choir, orchestra, marching band, and theatre all through high school. I studied voice performance and theatre at Loyola University New Orleans before moving to Denver for graduate school, and I recently graduated from the University of Denver with master's degrees in voice performance and choral conducing. This is my first year teaching, and I'm excited to help Cimarron students find and nurture their own love for music.
I perform with a number of musical groups in the Denver area, including St. Martin's Chamber Choir, the Evans Choir, Town Hall Arts Center, and The Other Reindeer Carolers. This ranges in style from musical theatre & vocal jazz to early, Classical, and Romantic choral music, and I hope all my students can find an interest in at least one of those styles.
