Concert Attendance Policy
Choir is a performance based class and all concerts are required for all students. Students will be excused from concerts if they are ill, out of town, or if there is a family emergency. The director needs to be informed of the absence as soon as it is known. Extracurricular activities do not constitute an excused absence. To make up an excused absence, you will need to attend a concert, write a one page paper describing the concert (you may include the style of music, concert etiquette, and any musical concepts you noticed, such as dynamics, tone, etc.), and bring in a concert program signed by you and your parent or guardian. Unexcused concert absences will lower your content knowledge and work habits grades by one full letter grade. Special circumstances may be discussed with the director in advance. Each case will be decided at the director’s discretion.
Concert Attire
All students are required to wear all black for performances. This means:
x Black slacks OR black skirt, knee length or longer
x Black collared shirt (polo, button-down) OR black blouse, short-sleeved or longer (no T-shirts or tank tops)
x Black shoes & black socks/tights
If you're not sure if your concert attire is appropriate, ask!
