This course lasts one semester or one year with a concert at the end of each quarter. Skills developed include:
Vocal technique and breathing
Use of Kodaly solfege syllables
Use of Takadimi rhythm syllables for simple meters
Reading music in the treble clef
Sight-reading music in the treble clef in major keys and simple meters
Singing in two- and three-part harmony
Performance etiquette
