This course lasts one semester or one year with a concert at the end of each quarter. Skills developed include:
Vocal technique and breathing
Use of Kodaly solfege syllables for diatonic and altered pitches
Use of Takadimi rhythm syllables for simple and compound meters
Reading music in the treble and bass clef
Sight reading music in treble and bass clef in simple and compound meters
Singing in two- and three-part harmony
Singing in English and foreign languages
Performance etiquette
