6th Grade Hexathlon

Sixth Grade Hexathlon

On Friday, May 1, 2026 Highlands Ranch area elementary schools will host a Sixth Grade Hexathlon. This event will be held at EchoPark Stadium in Parker from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

Our Coyote Creek team will have 18 members made up of 9 boys and 9 girls. Selection of the athletes for our team will be based on: 

• Citizenship in school (Responsible & Respectful in all classes)

• Academic expectations in the classroom (work completed and turned in on time)

• Physical abilities (Try-Out: PACER & Shuttle Run)

• Meeting and exceeding school-wide expectations

All of the above will be used to determine whether a student is eligible to be on the team. Physical ability will be determined through try-outs. All students who want to be considered for the Coyote Creek team will need to try out. Try-outs will consist of a shuttle run for time and PACER for endurance. Students who wish to try-out for the team must have a signed parental consent form and commitment sheet with classroom teacher approval. This form must be turned in before the tryout date. A student will not be eligible to try-out if this form has not been signed and returned to Mrs. Balfe before their try-out. Try-outs will be held during PE classes.

Once the team is determined, each student making the team will bring notification home with information about practice times, dates, t-shirt size, parent drivers, etc. There will be a minimal cost to purchase a team t-shirt ($15). Practices will be on the grass field at Coyote Creek from 7:45-8:30 AM. There will be one practice at the TRHS track. Attendance at all practices is expected except in the case of illness.

Try-out dates during PE:

• Week of February 17

• Week of February 23

• Hexathlon team will be notified Friday, March 6
