Miss Sarah joined the Mini Dragons team at DBS in August 2023.   She values the importance of creating a calm, safe and supportive environment where the children feel cared for, have a sense of belonging and develop an understanding of both their own emotions and those of others.  An important part of this is developing positive relationships with their families so we can all work together to help each child to develop their confidence and independence as they start their school journey at DBS. Miss Sarah was delighted to become Head of Mini Dragons in February 2024 and to lead such a wonderful team of teachers and learning assistants who all work so hard and always put the children’s wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.

Miss Sarah is originally from Bath in England.  After a career working on cruise ships and in hotels, Miss Sarah moved into teaching 22 years ago after the birth of her daughter.  She initially gained a teaching qualification in Further Education, but an opportunity to work in Early Years at the International School of Como, in Italy led to great passion for the early years.  She then returned to the UK where she completed her BA Early Years with the Open University, and then gained  her PGCE with Early Years Teacher Status at Bath Spa University in 2017, focussing on child development from birth to five years old.  Throughout her career, Miss Sarah has always worked in schools with a large community of multilingual children and in her last setting was part of a team who worked on developing policy and practice in this area.  

At the beginning of 2023, Miss Sarah completed an MA in Professional Practice at Bath Spa University.  As part of her MA, Miss Sarah carried out an action research project into the benefits of promoting children’s physical activity in school and at home.  Then for her dissertation she focused on the importance of sensory learning in child development, so she loves her classrooms to be full of opportunities for movement, music and sensory exploration.  The dissertation has broadened her understanding of the senses which she believes has enhanced her ability to attune to the unique characteristics of every child she works with.  

Miss Sarah has a love of languages and travelling.  She is really enjoying living in Thailand and is trying hard to learn some of the language.   Her other passion is dancing, and she was part of a tap-dancing group in England for five years and is excited to have found a fantastic tap dance community here in Bangkok.  

Originally from Newcastle, England, Miss Terri has spent the last 10 years teaching Early Years at international schools in Shanghai and Bangkok. 

As a mother of a 5-year-old son who will also be joining Year 1 at DBS, Miss Terri understands the importance of creating a nurturing and supportive environment for children. Her commitment lies in discovering and nurturing individual interests, fostering independence, and instilling a lifelong love of learning in each student.

In her classroom, Miss Terri will lead students on a journey of hands-on learning, tailored to their individual pace. Expect a dynamic and language-rich environment filled with imaginative role play, captivating stories, and joyful musical movement! Miss Terri loves musical movement and yoga, incorporating these activities into the daily routine.

Outside of the classroom, Miss Terri enjoys staying active with CrossFit, exploring new destinations through travel, and capturing moments through photography. She brings her passions and experiences into the classroom, creating a vibrant and engaging learning environment.

Miss Terri is eager to form strong relationships with each student and their families, creating a warm and caring atmosphere where the youngest learners can thrive.

Miss Melina is from London in England. She studied Primary Education at St. Mary’s University in Twickenham where she received her BA Honours and a Qualified Teacher Status. Miss Melina has had experience teaching in Early years, KS1 and KS2 and since qualifying has worked for three years teaching Early Years in London. 

Throughout her teaching career she has seen the value of creating a safe and happy environment for young children. She strives to encourage a love of learning, inspire creativity, build confidence and grow ambition every day. She enjoys learning through play and believes in the importance of creating an exciting and engaging curriculum for all children. 

While Miss Melina is new to Thailand, she is excited to embrace and learn all about the culture and traditions. When not teaching, Miss Chrysostomou enjoys drawing and painting. She enjoys travelling and exploring new countries, trying new food and exploring different architecture. She has a huge love for tropical fish and wishes to one day try snorkelling to see them in the coral reefs!
