School Equipment (Year 3 and above)
At DBS, the majority of school equipment is provided for students to ensure that they can access the curriculum in all subjects. However, often students like to bring a pencil case to school with their own equipment. Students are welcome to do this and many enjoy the responsibility of caring for their own equipment or using specially chosen stationery to further improve their work.
We do encourage students not to bring in items of high monetary or sentimental value, as they can be easily lost and school cannot take responsibility if this happens. We recommend that stationery is clearly named, so that it can be returned to its owner, if found. Only stationery that is purposeful and appropriate for school, at the class teacher's discretion, can be brought into the classroom.
For clarity, the following details what is and isn't provided at school, to support parents in preparing their child for the academic year.
The following equipment is provided:
- black pens for writing (and blue pens for correcting);
- iPad for use in school;
- pencils for sketching and maths, along with rubbers;
- Glue sticks;
- whiteboards and whiteboard markers;
- geometry equipment;
- Exercise books;
- all art resources (unless there are specific projects which require specialist resources which will be charged separately);
The following equipment is essential for learning, and is not provided by DBS:
- earphones (Y3-6) - basic, wired earbuds with aux connector, for use with school iPads;
- iPad or similar device (Y3-6), for use at home to complete homework and other tasks.
