The question usually contains three important pieces of information:
The context. In the example above, this is given in the first sentence.
The message. This is the second sentence.
Audience. This information is in the final sentence and from this you need to decide which text type is most appropriate.
All the information in the instructions is important. You must include all this information in your response.
The choice of the text type affects the vocabulary and grammar used. Therefore, selecting the most appropriate text type is key. Once this decision is made, you then need to think very carefully about the grammar and vocabulary you will use.
The tasks set in Paper One require that you are ready to write in any of these forms.
You will need to know the conventions of each of these text types and the associated structure and grammar too.
