Our Vision for Learning in the 21st Century
BYODD iPads for Learning
When used at school, it is expected that students only use school approved applications for educational purposes on their iPad. As the BYODD program enables students to own their iPad, parents can, and often do choose to allow the installation of other applications for games and entertainment. This of course remains the prerogatives of parents, however even with expected filtering system to be implemented by Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB), the only way we feel we can guarantee exclusive use of the school-approved applications at this stage is by only installing school-approved educational apps. Please give this consideration when deciding what other apps might be installed on your child’s iPad. For more advice on iPads at home please click on the @home link.
At St. Patrick's we use both Apple Classrooms and Google Classrooms to manage and enhance the use of iPads in the classroom environment. See the links below to see how both of these applications work.
Apple Classrooms
In our classrooms, teachers use Apple Classrooms to manage the use of iPads. Watch this short video of what Apple Classrooms looks like in your child's class.
Google Classrooms
Google Classroom is a free tool and Part of the Google Apps for Education Suite. It helps teachers to; easily and quickly create and organize assignments; provide valuable feedback; and communicate with their classes. This video highlights the experiences of some of the teachers and students who gave us feedback to help develop Classroom.
