Inaugural Lecture in the remembrance of “Acharya Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray”

Department of Chemistry, Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi has introduced an online ‘Motivational Lecture series’ in the ‘Remembrance of Indian Legendary Chemists’ under the aegis of IQAC and DBT star college scheme. The lecture series was inaugurated by the remembrance of Father of Modern Chemistry “Acharya Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray” on 28th January 2021 at 10.30 a.m. Professor Rajeev Gupta, Department of Chemistry and Dean, Student Welfare, University of Delhi was the eminent speaker for this session on google meet @ https://meet.google.com/ngy-ynwe-nfb. Almost 100 participants including students and faculty members have participated during this interesting event.
Professor Rajiv Gupta Sir, give a very detailed, interesting, inspiring and enthusiastic lecture on the contribution of “Acharya Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray” in the field of Chemistry and the build up of Nation. During his talk, Professor Gupta highlighted about the earlier life, education and professional life of Acharya Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray, his struggle and devotion to establish his career as a professor in Presidency College among the Britishers. Professor Gupta also enlighten the audience about the tremendous achievements of the Acharya P.C. Ray Sir, who was involved during his entire life in the development of self sufficient India by starting his own company “Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Works, and establishment of Indian Chemical Society. The social life of Acharya P.C. Ray Sir, his literature contribution and role as friend and mentor was well discussed by Professor Rajiv Gupta in his inspiring talk. In the last, the talk was completed by a tribute to the Acharya P. C. Ray Sir as a teacher, a scientist and researcher, an educational reformist, an industrialist, an employment generator, an unknown freedom fighter, a social worker and a true mentor and friend.
