A Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI), is a brief letter emailed to the admissions office of a law school for which you've been placed on the waitlist. As you navigate the waitlist, sending an LOCI is important if you still wish to be considered for admission.
What to include in the LOCI:
Begin with a thank you to the admissions staff for their continued consideration of your application.
Indicate your interest in the law school as strongly as you possibly can.
Is the school one of your top three choices?
If offered admission, could you 100% commit to attending?
Reference any connections you've had with the school since applying. Have you toured the campus, had a conversation with an admission representative, talked with a current student, met with a faculty member or sat in a class? Be as specific as possible and mention what you learned, enjoyed, appreciated about the interaction(s).
Tell them why you are interested in the school. Focusing on "why" means avoiding a list of reasons. If the campus culture is important, if a program or clinic offered is appealing, if the school's location is of interest...briefly explain why.
Provide any meaningful updates. Since submitting your application have you started a new internship or job, posted new grades, completed an additional LSAT, been nominated to a new leadership role, etc.
Thank them again for their consideration.
If using AI to craft your LOCI, be cautious. The key components of LOCIs is authenticity ant ind personalization. Do not state your willingness to withdraw other applications if untrue. Avoid cliche phrases that profess your love of the institution. Be prepared to demonstrate geunine interest in the school.
