Pedal & Gears

The Pedal & Gear mechanisms of Unwet-y ensures a reliable and durable system for converting linear movement created by the user into a counterclockwise rotational motion to spin an umbrella. This method ensure, high enough speeds with low effort to quickly and effectively dry an umbrella.

To create this pedal mechanism we went through a lot of iterations, assuring the best possible Pedal & Gear system for the user and the umbrella.

Ratchet & Pawl

This system works by the Pawl attached to the teeth of the Ratchet and pushing it. While returning back to its original position it skips the teeth due to its curved shape, allowing a one-way direction.

Rachet & Shaft

This system is a combination of the Ratchet & Pawl and the Pedal & Shaft system. This system uses a pawl that is attached to a shaft which allows it to rotate in an elliptical shape while interacting with the Ratchet.

Pedal & Shaft

This system allows for a continuous rotation by attaching the pedal directly to a non-colinear shaft which allows a linear push to be translated into a circular rotation.
