ASED started the day at 7:30AM at Moosilauke Ravine Lodge fuleing up for a 9.19 mile hike up Mount Moosilauke (4802 ft elevation). We hiked the Gorge Brook Trail to the summit, then used a combination of the Carriage Road, Snapper Trail, and Gorge Brook Trail back to the lodge. Along our hike we gathered data to our previsouly brainstored research questions, come up with by the students. We had two cohorts, one focsuing on tree density and another on rock diversity. Students took samples every 200ft using tools such as soil cores, shpherical densiometer, prisms, in addition to elevation and coordinates. This data will then be taken back to the Dartmouth Campus to analyze and develop conclusions to share out during our final presentaion on August 9th, 2026.
