Today's Activities:
ASED started off the day with a name game and creating our group posters for our two teams. Each group chose an animal native to Greenland as our mascot (ours is the Harp Seal/aataaq). Then, we had a great science class with Prof. Matt Ayers exploring what is science, how to ask good scientific questions, and the steps to work toward an interesting question. We put this scientific method into practice during our group hike up Mt. Gile. ASED ended the day with our personal presentations. In order to get to know each other better we shared about our hometowns and interests with a presentation and representative token to share with the group.
These are some of the scientific questions I came up with after our hike! I payed close attention to maple leaves and trees.
My team worked on our group mascot (Harp Seal) and noted some fun facts (Harp Seals get their name from a small black harp shape on their back).
This was the moment we passed the powerlines during our hike, and I particularly was interested in the different understory found in this area as compared to the rest of the canopy.
