PB & J
Positive Behavior & Restorative Justice in FP
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an approach that supports all students through intervention ranging from a school-wide system to a system for developing individualized plans for specific students. PBIS focuses on the development and implementation of pro-active procedures and practices to prevent problem behavior for all students and improve school climate.
Restorative Justice (often referred to as, restorative practices) is a theory of justice that focuses on mediation and agreement rather than punishment. Offenders must accept responsibility for harm and make restitution with victims. Restorative justice resolves disciplinary problems in a cooperative and constructive way.
The First Program combines PBIS and Restorative Justice to create PB&J (Positive Behaviors and Justice). Our mission is to empower students with the social and emotional skills necessary to lead a respectful and successful elementary school experience. At CDS FP, we expect students to respect themselves and respect others in all settings across the school: classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and playground. Students and teachers discuss what each expectation is, what it looks like and examples of it. All staff and students in the school are expected to know the School-wide behavior expectations.

BehaviorFlip
CDS FP will continue using BehaviorFlip app during this school year 2022–2023. Administration, teachers, and staff are using BehaviorFlip only to collect data in order to provide more support for students and teachers. BehaviorFlip is not open to parents and only teachers that belong to the FP can have access to the data. The PB&J team meets regularly to analyze data and discuss different ways to approach behavioral concerns.
