A message from Principal  Santos...

I hope everyone found some time to rest or connect as a family during this break. As we move into the next week of our favorite month of October, I want to take a minute to shout out our amazing teachers! I spoke a bit about Rock-tober last week and what it can do for us as parents with ultra-busy schedules. This month of jam-packed activities and initiatives also takes a big toll on teachers! In my 20 years in education, I can honestly say our teachers at Solar are the most amazing educators I have ever witnessed. I can ALSO say they all LOVE their jobs AND they have so much on their plate every single moment of the day. A little gratitude goes a long way! Help me keep their spirits high and share some words of gratitude with them this week! Whether it is during your parent conference OR through a small note or remind message, tell your child's teacher(s) how much you appreciate their work. This job is tough even for the most passionate educators and my job is to ensure we get to keep the best educators who I know will move mountains for our kids! 

PTA FUNDRAISER. 

This week is the kick-off to our PTA Grade Level Fundraising Challenge. Students are encouraged to bring in coins, cash or donate online to raise money for their classroom/grade level jugs for PTA. 

Our PTA is critical to the success of our school - they support:

1. ALL family and community engagement events

2. All cultural celebrations, events and holiday celebrations on campus

3. High School Night, 

4. All staff appreciation and incentives 

5. Student celebrations, incentives and events 

6. Student Programs such as Theater, Orchestra, Clubs & more.

The winners of each grade level will be invited to a Kona Ice Dance Party. The competition begins TOMORROW and we can't wait to track our progress. This fundraiser will carry us through the fall into our Teacher Appreciation before the Holiday Break! Get ready to look under those couch cushions for as many coins as you can find.
