In this training, you will learn strategies and techniques to build stronger relationships with those you serve, provide proactive interventions to prevent challenging behaviors and de-escalate situations to avoid crises.

In this module, you will use the Crisis Prevention Model to identify behaviors at different levels of a crisis moment. The model represents a series of recognizable behavior levels that an individual may experience during a crisis moment and the related staff attitude or approaches used to de-escalate distress behaviors.

In this module, you will learn how critical your response is to de-escalating behavior and preventing a crisis. The concept of Integrated Experience demonstrates how one person manages their attitude and behavior to have a positive impact on the other person’s behavior. You will gain a deeper understanding of why your approach is so important and feel more empowered to provide interventions.

When a person is at the Anxiety level, your supportive communication is crucial to supporting them and preventing the crisis from escalating. In this module, you will explore skills that will apply at any level of the crisis as you continue to support them with the appropriate intervention approach.

This module examines the defensive level in the Crisis Prevention Model and illustrates the stages of defensive escalation. The Verbal Escalation Continuum helps you to recognize behaviors at the defensive level and identify the de-escalation strategies to use for each stage.

How Scaffolding Embeds Into Instruction - Part 2

In this course we will explore strategies for implementing scaffolded learning effectively. The types of scaffolding, a blueprint for scaffolding, and strategies for embedded scaffolding will be examined, This course is a continuation of the previous scaffolding session, "How Scaffolding Supports Student Success." We encourage completing Part 1 prior to attending Part 2.
