Purpose: Your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA on a computer or tablet three times a year. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.
MAP Growth tests are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level
Help your child set up their iPad or laptop
Check their headphones and volume if needed
Discuss with your child that we want them to show us what they know and do their best
Read the questions or answer choices aloud
Hint or tell your child the correct answer
Expect your child to get every question correct, the test may show questions your student has not yet been taught
allow your child to rapid guess, or click quickly without trying, through the test
MAP Growth measures what your child knows and is ready to learn.
The test is adaptive, which means that it adjusts to each student's responses. Students receive and individual test score at the end of the test, this allows you to see your child's growth from year to year. MAP test reports also informs the teacher what students know and help set learning goals for learning.
