We believe the library at Chapel Hill is a welcoming place that supports student voice and choice and empowers all students, staff and community members to imagine possibilities, explore opportunities, operate with integrity and connect with the future and world.
We believe students should both consume and create literature, information and prototypes.
We believe transliteracy, persistence, curiosity, innovation, collaboration, critical thinking, and adaptability, are key components needed for reaching full academic potential. To achieve this potential the library supports classroom instruction through collaborative teaching and provision of resources. Additionally, the library supports this potential through the opportunity to explore literary and STEAM materials in a safe, fail-free environment.
We believe it our responsibility to instill academic integrity. This is achieved by teaching and modeling ethical uses of information, evaluation and citation of sources, devotion to lifelong learning and by seeking to understand multiple viewpoints.
We believe that access to books, online resources and technology impacts achievement and embraces, expands and mirrors the diversity in and beyond our students’ lives.
Dallas ISD libraries follow AASL Standards which complement TEKS goals across all disciplines.
