Welcome to Computer Media Productions! I am looking forward to working with each of you this semester. This class is designed to incorporate a great deal of hands-on experiences, which I am sure you will enjoy. This is a semester long course designed to take you to a different level in computers, focusing on digital applications. Included in this course: Advanced Print Shop, Elements of Design, Web Design, programmable robots, and Intro to Computer Programing with Alice 3D Animation.
The students first learn about the elements of design and then apply that knowledge in creating company logos. After successfully completing that phase, the students are then introduced to web page design and create their own web sites based on a company’s specific requirements. They will learn how to analyze and problem solve in selecting the most effective software to meet their final project goal. Students will also be introduced to computer programing in a 3-D animation program called Alice. ( Students learn to think in a logical manner, while learning to decompose programming, leading to the actual animation of 3-D objects. A unit on bullying and Internet netiquette will be explored. In addition, students will be introduced to Xelll, an interactive career exploration application. Students will have an opportunity to research specific careers and colleges that interest them.
EXTRA CREDIT is only offered on certain projects if students are caught up in their work. If your child does the work I assign on time and participates in class, he/she will have plenty of time in class to finish their work and will not need Extra Credit.
Grades are based on the portfolio that your child creates throughout the class. Points are assigned for in class assignments and projects. Some of these projects will last 3 weeks. Therefore, grades will not be posted as frequently as some of the other classes that your child is taking.
If a student needs extra help or wishes to work on his/her project, I am available after school and during some lunches. If a student needs to stay after school to catch up on work or do advanced work, they will need to schedule a time with me ahead of time so I can make arrangements.
Due to the nature of the class, I rarely give homework. I do provide the students with ample time to complete their projects in class--if they use their time wisely.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the semester, please do not hesitate to contact me. The best method is via email at hkunselman@d92.org. Grading Scale is on my home page.
