6th Grade Technology
Welcome to the 6th Grade Technology Page ! I am looking forward to working with each of you this semester. This class is designed to incorporate a great deal of hands-on experiences, which I am sure you will enjoy. This course focuses on basic keyboarding technique. It also introduces the students to some of the concepts and components of the Microsoft Office Suite including, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. They develop their skills creating, editing, formatting, and printing documents, as well as utilizing several shortcut key combinations. In addition, students will be creating an iMovie trailer and working with programming robots. Students increase their knowledge in internet research techniques and valid information sources, along with Internet Safety and Netiquette.
I do not offer extra credit. If your child does the work I assign on time and participates in class, he/she will not need to have extra credit. If they need extra time to improve thier keyboarding grade in the application, Typing Agent, it is available online and can be accessed at home on their chromebook.
Grades are based on the portfolio that your child creates throughout the class. Points are assigned for each assignment, quiz, and project.
The students will be using applications that are only available on the technolgy equipment at school. If your child needs addition time to complete an assignment they can sign out a device and work afterschool in SOS on Tuesdays and Thursdays and take the activity bus if needed. Your child will need to schedule a time in advance for additional help with me afterschool in the computer lab or SOS.
I rarely send homework due to the nature of the class and, because of this, I provide the students with ample time to complete their projects in class, if they use their time wisely. If you child needs to stay after school to catch up on work, they will need to schedule a time with me.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the semester, please do not hesitate to contact me. The best method is via email at hkunselman@d92.org.
