Welcome back, Scroll readers! Happy April! This past month has been full of much eventful news, whether it is the start of a war, gas prices increasing dramatically, or the Kanye and Kim controversies. March did not fail to be an active month and has left many people stunned. So let's try to start the month of April on a good note with a little good news from around the world, specifically in Ukraine. Often, we can find ourselves drowning and losing hope, being surrounded by news channels that focus on the negative aspect of events, but it is equally important for the betterment of our soul to hear about the good moments happening amidst the chaos. A little balance is good for life, so I am back with a few beautiful moments that will bring moments of serotonin into your hearts. Let us get started...

The first good news from Ukraine is an incredible act of humanity from strangers. Airbnb users have been booking $2 million worth of stays to help those in Ukraine. According to CNN, “...on March 2 and March 3, guests from around the world booked more than 61,000 nights in Ukraine, according to an Airbnb spokesperson.” Further on, users in the U.S, U.K, and Canada accounted for nearly three-quarters of the total reservations. These users have no intention of showing up to the Airbnbs, but their acts of kindness let Ukrainian people in need seek shelter and protection during these tough times. This started by being part of a creative social media campaign to channels funds into the cities where aid drops or supply trucks can't reach according to Good News Network. One of the users, New York City resident Anne Margaret Daniel, who booked a stay left a message for the guest and said, “I hope that you, and your lovely apartment, are safe and that this horrible war is over…and Ukraine is safe.” One of the Ukrainian people who stayed in the rental showed his appreciation by saying, “Thank you very much for your help, which is so much needed now…I have been standing in line for food since the morning, which I can now buy with the money you sent.” Moreover, according to CNN, Airbnb has said it is offering temporary “housing in neighboring countries to up to 100,000 Ukrainians” who are fleeing their country. They are also waiving guest and host fees in the country. This is an amazing and wholesome moment where humanity and various communities are coming together in times of desperate help to bring a little happiness and protection for our neighbors. If you would like to support Airbnb and help host an refugee, you can find the link under sources to donate to fund stays for Ukrainian refugees.
The second piece of good news from Ukraine is about a noble and wholehearted man who drove 1,000 miles from Lyme Regis to help Ukrainians by driving a “16-seater minibus full of supplies such as blankets and sleeping bags,” per BBC News. Wow! This is shocking and it is so incredible that this man chose to drive this far and risk his life to help out people in Ukraine. This man, Tom Littledyke, is an ex-Royal Marine and he said that it was after he saw pictures of children and families “broken and separated” by the conflict that he decided to help. In less than 12 hours, he had his minibus full of supplies, “including toys and pillows, and was ready to start his journey.” They stuck their minibus outside the Royal Lion and were accepting donations. Even they were shocked over how many people came to donate and it was only a matter of an hour and a half until the minibus was full and they were ready to start their journey. His partner, Georgia Wellman, also joined him on this trip and told Dorset Live: “Every time someone goes ‘I wish we could do something’ upon seeing such conflict and literally on Sunday he says ‘we can do something.' ” The couple also raised more than “£5,000 on their JustGiving page to help refugees”, according to Express. Ms. Wellman said that Mr. Littledyke will be driving solo and the journey will take 28 hours. When asked how he felt about this and if he was scared, Mr. Littledyke responded, “I’m full of emotions and clear drive…I’m inspired by how inspired people have been to make this happen.” Not only is he inspired, but we are also impressed by his courage and his move to help Ukraine. Hats off to Tom Littledyke!

The next piece of news may not necessarily be a piece of good news but it is news of empowerment and bravery that this Ukrainian woman showed by confronting Russian soldiers. She confronted a heavily-armed Russian soldier with sunflower seeds and gave the seeds to them and proceeded to say, “Take these seeds and put them in your pockets, so at least sunflowers will grow when you all lie down here,” per Indy100. Wow! This warning left many people on social media and around the world applauding her courage and patriotism, especially after realizing the symbolism of sunflower seeds. They are Ukraine’s national flower, representing the power and warmth of the sun, making this news even more heartfelt and inspiring. Even during these challenging times, this woman is not losing her spirit and she is taking action to confront and challenge the evilness of this war. She has set an example of a fearless and unstoppable person through this action of hers.
The last and the most heartwarming good news that I am bringing to the Scroll readers is about the Ukrainian Soldiers who adopted a freezing puppy and named him “Rambo”, who protects them now. One of the soldiers told FreedomNews.TV that, “We took him into our post, and he stayed with us. We felt sorry for him. It was freezing outside.” One of the men said that Rambo is now their “security. That's his job.” Rambo is an 8-inch tall puppy and he has brought many smiles to the trenches in Ukraine during these times of war. According to the soldiers, Rambo acts as a watchdog, who can hear if a stranger is nearby per My Modern Met. The joy of this puppy’s presence brings a little light to dark moments for these soldiers. Rambo is helping the frontline with the troops and he and his squad are all now protecting Ukraine and its citizens from Russia’s invasion. Animals are truly a gift from God on this earth, and their amazing little hearts can shed so much light and happiness, even when it seems impossible.
