Sexual assault warrants unwanted sexual touch or behavior from another person. Sexual assault can include unwanted touching, attempted rape, rape, and forcing someone to perform unwanted sexual acts. According to Rainn, an anti-sexual violence organization, approximately eight out of ten sexual assaults are committed by a person that the victim knows. The other percentage of sexual assault is done by complete strangers. Consent is a huge necessity before any sexual acts. According to Women's Legal Service, consent requires a verbal “yes” or “no.” Someone cannot be forced or pressured into anything sexual. Sex is not consensual when a person is being threatened, is under the influence, or unconscious. If someone decides to change their mind at any point during the sexual activity, then the other person should immediately stop advances. A person cannot legally consent before the age of 16.
