It is also a prerequisite for the Art Materials and Printmaking elective.
If a student wishes to take the Art Materials and Printmaking art elective as a seventh grader they will be scheduled to take Art 7 earlier in the year than AMPM. Art 7 continues to build and elaborate upon the concepts learned in Art 6.
Observation skills and hand-eye coordination continue to develop with increased emphasis on various mark making techniques. Understanding of the compositional devices of balance and movement in addition to harmony and emphasis are reinforced. Color and value are explored and students learn to create the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional surface. The limits of clay continue to be explored through hand building techniques other than but not excluding the slab method. Students are increasingly expected to connect their art to individual, personal experiences and preferences. Problem Solving is more in-depth as students are expected to combine personal experiences with reference material, influences from professional examples and project expectations to create original works of art.
Students evaluate their artwork in the same areas as in sixth grade; Idea Development, Technical skills, Craftsmanship, and Artistic Behaviors/Effort. They continue to critique and reflect upon their work in writing using the vocabulary and concepts learned in each unit.
In this folder you will find: Daily Calendar and Learning Targets, Welcome Presentation, Art Class Routines and Idea Development documents.
