Winter Holidays

Christmas is a holiday that Christians around the world celebrate every year on December 25th. Families decorate their homes with a Christmas tree and lights. Most people set up a Christmas trees before or after Thanksgiving. Some people usually buy fake trees because it’s easier. Some people will buy real trees. Trees are decorated with ornaments. Presents are then placed under the tree. On Christmas eve, people may attend mass at their church. On Christmas day, families enjoy a special meal and exchange gifts.

Hanukkah is an eight day celebration of the victory of Maccabees. Jewish people mostly celebrate this holiday. They celebrate by lighting a candle each night on a menorah. Families may attend temple services and have a special meal. Gifts are exchanged and children play with dreidels, a four-sided spinning top. Latkes, a potato pancake is a favorite food!. One of the teachers at Plainfield celebrates Hanukkah, Miss Brown. Her favorite part of Hanukkah is lighting the candles with her family and singing Hanukkah songs.

We all loved reading about Ivan

Ivan is a gorilla and he is so nice. He helped Ruby get out of the big top mall cause he did not want Ruby to end up like Stella. She was the one who passed away and he made a promise to Stella that he would free Ruby .Won’t you like to see Ivan and Ruby and when they got to the zoo. Ruby was so happy and Ivan was nervous because he did not know anybody at the zoo. They had a good life and Bob had a home with Julia’s mom and George.
