All students at Grand Junction High School complete a Tiger Portfolio - a website that showcases their academic progress and postsecondary and workforce readiness. Students create a Tiger Portfolio using Google Sites in their Academy Time class and upload artifacts to it throughout their four years of high school. Completing a Tiger Portfolio is a requirement to graduate from Grand Junction High School.
Why do GJHS students create a digital portfolio?
Academic reflection: students reflect on their growth and accomplishments throughout high school, ultimately demonstrating that they are engaged, equipped, and empowered graduates
Organization tool: digital portfolios are a one-stop shop for students to save and retrieve important documents that may be needed in the future, such as resumes or industry certifications
Share with employers: digital portfolios are evidence of your growth over time, skills, and professionalism - all attributes that employers are looking for
Practice for the future: digital portfolios are common if not expected in many career fields for applicants to showcase their professional experience and projects, so students practice working with Google Sites and in identifying and organizing artifacts that best reflect themselves and their skills
