□ Continue to take challenging coursework.
Colleges and employers like to see you worked hard in high school through challenging coursework (i.e. AP courses, Honors, college courses, higher level math/science/English classes).
Ideally, they also want to see courses that prepare you for your career goals - though it's okay if you don't have that figured out yet!
Check out our course guide for more information on courses offered at FMHS. Also check out the Career Center or CMU Tech for programs in healthcare occupations, welding, small animal care, small engine repair, and more!
□ Focus on doing well in your classes!
If you need support in your classes, talk with your teacher, check out our tutoring resources, or come speak with your counselor.
□ Put effort into extracurricular activities.
Colleges and employers want well-rounded individuals who are involved in their school and local communities. It's even better if your extracurriculars support your future career goals (i.e. volunteering at a local hospital if you want to be in healthcare).
□ Explore potential career routes and colleges.
If you don't know what you want to do yet - that's okay! This is the time to explore options. Counselors will be visiting your classrooms to help you develop your Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) for high school and your post-secondary plans. You are always welcome to visit with your counselor individually about your career interests.
