VRHS' ICAP Team (led by me) received an Honorable Mention in the State-Level ICAP Awards Ceremony hosted by the Colorado Department of Education for digital portfolio creation, in the 2017-18 school year. Digital portfolios are one way we are ensuring that all students are learning to track their educational gains, set goals, reflect, as well as showcase work they're proud of.
District 49 awarded me this certificate for the work I have been doing with student portfolios and tying that work to ICAP development, career exploration, 21st Century Skill development, and students' academic goal setting.
VRHS belongs to a "Zone of Innovation" as recognized by CDE. This certificate was given to my by our Zone's Superintendent for my work with the Pathway Progression and digital portfolios.
I have been involved with the State-Level ICAP Facilitators Group (affiliated directly with CDE) since the 2017-18 school year. On this team, I am responsible for:
Hosting ICAP Symposiums in Southern Colorado
Visiting schools in and around my school district to help counseling and teaching staff create ways to implement ICAP on their campuses
Facilitating staff and professional development opportunities for teachers and counselors to learn more about ICAP and what implementation could look like
Facilitating staff and professional development opportunities to allow teachers and counselors collaborate on best practices
Meeting to discuss and highlight best practices around the state, then sharing that information with my local contacts
Demonstrating new ways to help each student achieve personal success
I continue to work with CDE as a representative for the Southern Colorado region as an ICAP Facilitator and hope to begin working with schools in person again in the 2021-22 school year!
