In this module, students will use their imagination and creativity to explore drama, storytelling, and communication through video. Students will learn to use tools for video production, such as the green screen, and video editing tools such as WeVideo or DoInk, and learn how to make their imagination come to life. Students may choose to make a movie, a commercial, or an instructional “How To” video. Some students might explore using light as a way to make art, such as light painting, and light play which involves exploration with light, shadow, and color.
During this experience, student choice is at the center. Students can choose to work individually, with a partner, or in a small group. The class may choose to work as a large team, to create a movie. assigning roles to different students based on their own comfort level. Some students may love being in front of the camera and become the actors, other students may love writing and become the playwright, where others may feel more comfortable designing the props or working the camera. Younger students may set up a vet’s office where they can bring stuffed animals to feel better, or they may find props to create a supermarket checkout. In this module, imaginative play has no limits. Students will work on teamwork and conflict resolution, goal setting, creativity, self-expression, and poise in public speaking.
