Students will be participating in a Mock Archaeological Dig Site that will ask them to evaluate artifacts, make predictions, and use evidence to describe what they have found. Students will also learn about the origins of civilization by learning about the acronym G.R.A.P.E.S. (Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economy, and Social Structure)
Your student is currently studying the unit “America Before and After Colonization” in Social Studies. In this chapter, students will explore the political, economic, geographic, and social (PEGS) factors that shaped the colonies, including self-government, religion, and the relationship between Europe and the New World. Vocabulary is a major focus, with quizzes based on applying words in context.
You can support your child by discussing the Mayflower Compact and how geography influenced colonial development. Encourage them to use TCI (our online textbook) or independent research to answer their questions and deepen understanding.
