“Passion Fruit” By Ms. LaGrippe
Maracuja tastes so divine, this tasty fruit grows on a vine.
Peek inside this giant berry, pulpy goodness from a magical fairy.
This fruity gift is hard to resist, made into a juice it’s purely sunkissed.
Tart and tangy tastes so great, when I find it, I celebrate.
Australia is where I first tasted this bliss,
in the yard by the chickens where it just might have been missed.
But when my family cut me one from the vine, I knew I’d want it all the time.
At home it was rare and hard to find, so I must wait until the right time.
When in the tropics, I enjoy it a ton. My taste buds are ready to have some fun.
I arrived in the Cook Islands with breakfast on the table, a giant bowl of passion fruit to eat all I’m able.
Colombia, Peru, Vietnam and Brazil, when I find it it’s always a thrill.
I drink and I drink and I drink some more,
Maracuja, Maracuja, would I find you in Singapore?
Fast forward to now and I find it more often, but it's not the same, I haven’t forgotten.
I dream of the days that I’m near the equator, maracuja brought to me by a waiter.
I hope all of you, from here in Illinois, get the opportunity to enjoy
the giant berry from far away, maracuja, maracuja you’ll have it someday.
