On November 11, 2024, our Dundee Cardunals went against the Algonquin Foxes. It was an exciting and nail biting game. During warm-ups the team looked excited and filled the gym with energy, ready to see all the action in each quarter of the game.
Starting off on the court was number 32 Alexa Miljkovic (Center), number 4 Braden Johnson (Forward), number 3 Emmet Berry (Guard), number 2 Hudson Legge (Forward), and number 1 Madden Legge (Guard).
Number 32, Alexa, scored 12 points, and he got assisted 3 times by Madden, Hudson, and Noah. Alexa assisted once for Madden, and he was in two toss ups both leading him scoring points by doing a layup.
Number 13, Noah, scored 10 points by being assisted by Madden and Braden. Having a swish in the hoop, blasting down the court, and using a rebound to score. Noah had great passing with Madden getting extra points.
Number 3, Emmet, scored 7 points, and was once assisted by Braden, had 2 layups, and scored a free throw. He was in 1 toss up and put in tremendous effort. Emmet got fouled once and stole the ball towards the end and was really close to getting an extra two points.
Number 11, Caden, scored 5 points. He had a free throw that he made and a swish. Caden made everyone hold their breath by trying to score but the ball had different plans and circled the hoop until it fell on the outside.
Number 4, Braden, scored 4 points, and got assisted once by Madden. Braden assisted many players, including Hudson, Emmet, Caden, and Noah. Braden had an aggressive sweep, had a breakaway but he got tripped, and he was in two toss ups and he supported Emmet to pass to Mason.

What is Ultimate Frisbee? Ultimate frisbee, also known as ultimate, is similar to soccer and American football. It is a non-contact sport, played with a disc frisbee. The object of the game is to earn points by scoring goals in the end zone.
Who plays Ultimate? DMS has a club that is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. DMS students have participated in ultimate for about 10 years, led by Mr. Haase. There have been anywhere from 20 - 50 players at a time. There is a Fall and Spring Season with practices throughout the year. Each practice is from 345 - 5 pm in the upper fields. If the weather is bad, the practices will be canceled. There is no experience needed. Depending on the amount of participants, there are chances for the team to compete with other schools and tournaments.
When I asked Mr. Haase what his favorite ultimate experience was, he said, “My favorite experiences in ultimate is when we had enough players where we could attend tournaments and play against other schools. I have had numerous players go on to play in high school and into college. We have had some pretty competitive teams in the past where we have placed top three in state and even won the state championship on a few occasions.
Ultimate encourages sportsmanship and friendly competition. It’s a lot of fun and a good way to learn a new sport! If you have any questions, you can reach out to Mr. Haase at michael.haase@d300.org or show up at the next practice, and give it a shot! Mr. Haase puts all practice information in Monday morning announcements.
