Oxy-Fuel Cutting

OFC Setup & Shutdown Procedure

You will run through this procedure each time you setup and shutdown a cutting torch.

OFC Setup & Shutdown Procedures

Cutting Settings

With the right size tip installed, OFC can cut from 1/8" up to 6" thick metal.  The tip number can be found stamped on the side of the tip.  Notice in the table below that from metal 1/8" all the way up to 6" thick, that the Acetylene pressure is NEVER above 10 psi.  Drawing off acetylene too quickly can cause it to boil out of the acetone solution creating a dangerous situation for you and those in your vicinity.

The precise oxygen pressure used depends on the torch tip size and metal thickness.  The oxygen pressure in the procedure above varies based on the diameter of the holes in the torch tip.  On the far right column, Drill Size, shows the diameter of each tip.  For drills size designated in numbers as opposed to fractional inches, larger numbers are actually smaller diameters than smaller drill numbers.
