Take One (Mr. Andrew Dahan, Director)
Take One is the flagship ensemble in the NNHS Vocal Jazz program. Started in the early 1990s, this ensemble has grown to become one of the most respected high school vocal jazz ensembles in the country. The group has won a number of DownBeat awards, and has performed at festivals both nationally and internationally. The group has shared the stage with such names as Diane Schuur, The New York Voices, The Real Group, Take Six, Groove For Thought and Janis Segal of The Manhattan Transfer. This ensemble gives students the opportunity to work on the highest level of vocal jazz literature, and to travel and work with world-renowned performers and clinicians. Take One performs high-level vocal jazz ensemble literature, and also gives students an understanding of solo jazz performance. The group has travelled for performances both nationally and internationally.
Sound Check (Ethan Kohring, Director)
Sound Check was the second group to be created in the NNHS Vocal Jazz program when it started in 1995. This group was created due to the immense amount of interest in vocal jazz which created the need for a second group, and is a mixed SATB ensemble. The group has traveled to many vocal jazz ensembles, including the Western Michigan Vocal Jazz Invitational and the Millikin Vocal Jazz Festival

Harmonic Motion (Lizzi Trumbore, Â Director)
Harmonic Motion, established in 2007, is the most recent addition to the NNHS Vocal Jazz program. For most of its existence, it has been entirely an SSAA ensemble, and in the last few years, has been focused on celebrating the music of female performers, composers, and arrangers. This group focuses on building students' musical ears and vocal technique through jazz and contemporary musical styles, and helps sopranos and altos explore the full range of their voices. This group has attended many vocal jazz festivals since its inception.
