Selena Quintanilla (1971-1995) was like a shooting star, her life was brief but bright and powerful. By her teenage years she was already a rising star, contributing to the rise in Latin music popularity across the U.S.
In 1994, she became the first Tejano artist to win a Grammy--dubbing her the "Queen of Tejano." Unfortunately, the singer met her untimely end at the hand of the x-president of her fan club, however, depite her career being short she inspired and continues to inspire a generation of Latino/a fans.
