What is CTE?
Career Education at El Camino College prepares students for employment or for future education in a career major or concentration. Career Education courses are occupationally specific and technical in nature. There are 36 occupational programs offered at El Camino College. Many students enroll in courses to upgrade their skills or develop new ones for different positions in the workforce. If you are uncertain about a career direction, their career counselors can assist you to find the path that fits your talents and interests.
Courses are taught by professionals who are experts in their field. Their expertise ensures that students receive an intensive, hands-on educational experience. Their job placement services team is available to work with students seeking to find employment.
When can I start taking CTE Classes?
You can start as early as Summer after your 10th grade! Reach out to your Counselor in February of your 10th grade to talk about your options and make a plan. Then, you can take classes every semester!
You can take CTE Classes in high school and finish your certificates, certifications, and degrees once you graduate from high school. You will have a head start, we have had students get certificates while they are still attending high school.
We highly recommend meeting with a CTE Counselor to make an educational plan to achieve your goals within your timeframe.
