What is a Brag Sheet?
Brag sheets are a way for you to help recommenders write letters of recommendation on your behalf. This form gives them more insight into who you are inside/outside of school and interests.
What are letters of recommendation for?
Your recommenders will use this information to write you a strong letter of recommendation to support your: scholarship and college admission applications, college fly-in/summer programs, and other honors/awards.
Who can I ask to write me a letter of recommendation?
Counselors, teachers, school staff, coaches, mentors, supervisors, etc. (No family members). You always want to have at least 2 Academic recommendations and 1 by your Community Service Supervisor.
When should I start filling in my brag sheet?
As early as 9th grade!
When should I start requesting letters of recommendation?
As early as the beginning of 2nd semester of your Junior year (11th grade).
Letters of Recommendation need to be requested 2-3 weeks in advance.

Ask potential recommenders (2-3 weeks in advance) if they would be willing to write you a letter of recommendation. You want to ask in person, before/after school, during nutrition break, lunch, or office hours.
If they agree, make sure to discuss a potential date when they will be providing you the letter of recommendation.
Make sure to provide view access of your Brag Sheet (Google Doc) to your recommenders, share any other relevant documents (for example, a résumé, personal insight questions, or anything else you would like for them to see), and send a follow-up email, like the one below. ⬇️

Friendly reminder, we agreed for you to provide me the letter of recommendation by (add date - remember to request 2-3 weeks in advance).
I am looking forward to reading the letter of recommendation.
