Program Overview
In 1997, SEd started to offer the two-year non-degree program, Diploma in Tourism Management (DTM). With the conversion of Don Severino Agricultural College into a state university, the Cavite State University, in January 1998, the School of Education was then eventually elevated into a college, the College of Education.
In 2003, the College started to offer a Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Resort Management. In 2011, the Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Resort Management (BSTRM) was revised to the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) in compliance to CMO 30, s. 2006. In 2018, the BSTM program underwent curriculum revision in compliance with CMO. 62 s. 2017.
The BSTM Program underwent and passed the Level I Accreditation in 2011, Level II Re-Accredited status in 2015. The program has passed the Level III of Phase 1 in 2021 by Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
The College actively maintained its linkage with hotels, restaurants, and other tourism related establishments for the On-the-Job Training of the Hospitality and Tourism students.
College of Education prides itself with the quality of its graduates who are holistically equipped in technical, professional and ethical competencies. With the quality of its graduates who are employed here and abroad, the college proves that it is a gateway to the development of various professions and a partner in promoting lifelong learning, nurturing learners who are passionate, competent and research-driven.
Through its dynamic transformation over the years, College of Education continues its legacy to be the key driver in nation building producing globally competitive professional in the field of Tourism management as academician, entrepreneur, Industry practitioners in food and beverage, resort and lodging sectors and other tourism businesses.
In the years to come, the College of Education will continuously strengthen its local and international collaborations with various institutions, acquire state-of-the-art laboratories and other facilities and strengthen its various curricular offerings to produce well-rounded and globally competitive professionals . It will also spearhead the creation of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management that will directly manage the BSTM and BSHM programs.
Program Objectives
1. Demonstrate knowledge of tourism industry, local tourism products and services
2. Interpret and apply relevant laws related to tourism industry
3. Observe and perform risk mitigation activities
4. Utilize information technology applications for tourism and hospitality
5. Manage and market a service-oriented business organization
6. Demonstrate administrative and managerial skills in a service-oriented business organization
7. Prepare and monitor industry specific financial transactions and reports
8. Perform human capital development functions of a tourism-oriented organization
9. Utilize various communication channels proficiently in dealing with guests and colleagues
Program Outcomes
1. Plan, implement and monitor tours and sales activities;
2. Research, plan and conduct various tour guiding activities;
3. Develop appropriate marketing programs and arrange the required travel services;
4. Plan/organize, implement and evaluate MICE activities; and
5. Plan, develop and evaluate tourism sites and attractions.
