Program Overview
Since the 1990’s, when the provincial government launched the second revolution with industrialization as one of its priority thrusts, Cavite has become a preferred tourist destination of both foreign and local investors. The province’s proximity to Metro Manila has also contributed to the advent of commercial establishments, taking advantage of the rapid urbanization happening provincewide. Agglomeration of such establishments has indeed transformed Cavite into an industrial and commercial hub not only in CALABARZON but in the whole country as well.
In response to these demands, Cavite State University, College of Education through Home Economics Vocational and Technical Education Department offered the Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management Program in the SY 1995 – 1996. There was a great number of enrollees and fifty percent of whom wants to have the course as a degree program, thus, a ladderized Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management was proposed in 1996. The BSHRM program was implemented and offered in the SY 1996-1997 by the virtue of the Board of Trustees Resolution Number 54, series of 1996. The program had its first graduate in 1999.
In 2018, the program was renamed as Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management in accordance to CMO. 62 s. 2017. Over the years, the program has been one of the most subscribed programs in the university. To date, there are more than 900 students enrolled in the program.
For more than two decades, the program has evolved and is continuously improving towards excellence in terms of faculty development, teaching pedagogies, facilities and varied educational opportunities Faculty members continue to strive for excellence by pursuing master’s degree and doctorate degree under the faculty and staff development program and other various scholarship grants. Students have high degree of exposure in their On-The-Job Training and link theory into practice through its immersion in various industry partners and linkages.
Through the collective efforts of the faculty members and staff, BSHM was issued Certificate of Compliance by Commission of Higher Education (CHED) on June 16, 2021 and is Level III – Re-accredited program by Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
College of Education prides itself with the quality of its graduates who are holistically equipped in technical, professional and ethical competencies. With the quality of its graduates who are employed here and abroad, the college proves that it is a gateway to the development of various professions and a partner in promoting lifelong learning, nurturing learners who are passionate, competent and research-driven.
Through its dynamic transformation over the years, College of Education continues its legacy to be the key driver in nation building producing globally competitive professional in the field of hospitality management as academician, entrepreneur, Industry practitioners in food and beverage, resort and lodging sectors and other hospitality businesses.
Program Objectives

9. Utilize various communication channels proficiently in dealing with guests and colleagues
Program Outcomes
1. Produce food products and services complying with enterprise standards;
2. Apply management skills in F&B service and operations;
3. Perform and provide full guest cycle services for front office;
4. Perform and maintain various housekeeping services for guest and facility operations;
5. Plan and implement a risk management program to provide a safe and secure workplace; and
6. Provide food and beverage service and manage the operation seamlessly based on industry standards.
