Winter Percussion Details

Fees - $35 (t-shirt plus travel to RHS)


Uniform - Denim on bottom, flannels or plain white t-shirt on top, hats are fine as long as they don’t inhibit playing

Registering for Winter Percussion DOES NOT secure you a spot in our 23-24 winter percussion program. All students who are offered positions must be registered in both the google form and Final Forms. Fees cover uniform, equipment, and travel.

Winter Percussion Auditions

BATTERY

The Battery is the marching half of the Percussion Ensemble.  Colloquially known as a drumline, the Battery is made up of 5 different sections.  Snare Drums, Multi-Tenor Drums, Marching Bass Drums, Single-Tenor Tom Drums, and Marching Crash Cymbals. 

Auditions are open to ALL Central Valley High School Students.  Prior marching experience is not required.


Audition Packets:


General Recording Instructions for Drummers:

- Record yourself at (or as close to) written tempos for all exercises

- Record with a metronome

- Can be recorded on a practice pad or marching instrument (tenors must have tenor pad if going that route)

- Everyone on "1-2-3-4": Record to a met w/ quarter and 8th note subdivision

   * Bass Drums on "1-2-3-4": pick any part (or preferred drum) and record to a met.  


FRONT ENSEMBLE

The Front Ensemble is the stationary half of the percussion group comprised of marimbas, vibraphones, xylophones, glockenspiels, synthesizers, bass guitar, drum set, and a whole host of auxiliary and electronic percussion instruments.

Auditions are open to ALL Central Valley High School Students.  Prior music experience is not required.

VISUAL ENSEMBLE

The Visual Ensemble provides story telling and visual support to the percussion ensemble during the show. This group is comprised of 4-8 students that will enhance the production by provided visual nuance to the show.

Auditions are open to ALL Central Valley High School Students.  No prior experience required.

First meeting with chosen members: December 6th (Wednesday) 3:00-5:30pm

 

Rehearsals: 3:00-5:30pm
