A math notebook is required and will be checked for completion. Write your name on the front cover. Keep it organized and use it only for math. Include guided practice, notes, homework, redos, and some projects. A spiral notebook or 3-ring binder is acceptable. Plan to use 150–250 pages this year. If using 70-page notebooks, replace them as needed, but use only one notebook at a time.
At the beginning of each unit there must be a title page (sometimes multiple pages) in your notebook consisting of four parts.
The Title - For example, “UNIT 4” {blue}
Student Name - In one of the upper outside corners of the page write your name. You name must include the first letter of your last name.
Formulas, Definitions, and Key Concepts - The teacher will tell you these. {teal}
Sticker (Used as a page mark) - Place the teacher’s sticker on the bottom outside corner of the page (farthest from the spine). Fold it over the edge to the back for easy notebook organization.
Numer of Assignments Logged - Above the sticker, write the total number of homework, guided practice, redos, and projects for this unit. {red}
Your notebook will be checked for the following criteria.
Title Page - As explained above.
Assignments
Student Name - Be sure to include at least the first letter of your last name.
Assignment name - While you can list full assignment descriptions, only the assignment name will actually be checked, examples: p.403 or [B4034].
Assignment Due Date - Always list the official due date from RenWeb, not the assigned or turned-in date. Applies to redos too.
Minimum number of assignments - Each unit has a required number of assignments (homework, guided practice, etc.). To get full credit, include at least this many in your notebook. Checks focus on assignment inclusion, student name, assignment name, and due date—not problem content. Only physically attached papers count. Redos can replace missing assignments to help meet the minimum.
Organizational Items:
The notebook is math exclusive
Unit is organized and together
Headers of assignments are obvious and only one assignment per page.
There is no idle doodling or sketches unrelated to the math topic.
