Quick Overview

Our second graders will use the Eureka Math series modeled after Engage New York along with a variety of other materials including games, puzzles, manipulatives, play money, clocks, etc. There are a total of 8 modules.
The modules focus on addition and subtraction with regrouping to 1,000, place value, measurement, problem solving, telling time, plane and 3D shapes.
Incorporating online programs such as Zearn and Prodigy.
Math Centers are done once a week (will start later in the year).

Topic Quizzes

In addition to the weekly exit tickets and district-wide assessments, we will take a topic quiz after each topic in a single module to further track student progress and support them in areas of need. They are graded and sent home so you are able to further support them at home with a skill.

Exit Tickets

An exit ticket is presented in almost every lesson in the Eureka Math curriculum to provide me with information about students' mastery of the topic and to drive further instruction. Some, but not all exit tickets will be graded.

Math Centers

Math centers are done once a week. During this time students can explore math by using manipulatives, playing games, using an online program, working in a small group or one-on-one with me, or in a workbook. This is a great time for me to pull students and practice skills we currently are working on or past strategies. This is only possible if I have volunteers. I will be sending out more information regarding that later on in the year.
